St. Barbara As one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, Barbara continues to be a popular saint in modern times, perhaps best known as the patron saint of armorers, artillerymen, military engineers, miners and others who work with explosives because of her legend's association with lightning, and also of mathematicians. St. Barbara is a protectress against fire and lightning. En ausencia de su padre, Bárbara es convertida al catolicismo, y manda construir tres ventanas en su torre simbolizando la Trinidad; su padre se entera del significado de estas ventanas, se enfada y quiere matarla, por lo que ella huye y se refugia en una peña milagrosamente abierta para ella.
